TPT4KC This Week!

Last week was a long, rough week for a lot of us. I'm glad this is a new one! I'm always glad to be done with inpatient rounds, they just take so much out of you - physically, emotionally and spiritually. It takes quite a few days to recover and I'm beginning to wonder if a slight depression doesn't just creep in. Oh sure, I put up a good front if/when I have too but for about 72 hours following discharge, the only thing I want to do is to be in my house, mostly with the covers overhead or watching TV.

I know there are others out there stronger than me, but I know that going through this trial requires copious amounts of rest. I hope you will pray for the parents and caregivers of these sweet children. Cancer treatment takes so much out on a family - they need the constant comfort and restrengthening our prayers provide!

Nothing speaks more to what rest looks, tastes and feels like (and the kind of rest these families need - hopefully manifested in their lives in the midst of and after they have walked through their valley) than Psalm 23:1-3:

The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.

Prayer Works!

Sophia Vogel (4, soft tissue sarcoma behind left eye) - Headed to outpatient chemo round (only 4 left) tomorrow! She will also probably need platelets and possibly red blood cells. Her white cell count was low before she got chemo last week, so she probably has zero immunity to germs for the next week - please pray The Lord will keep her safe from infection and heal her bone marrow so it can bounce back strong!

Anna Grace Dennis (7, cancer free from brain stem tumor) - She is continuing to have headaches and now some nausea. Her scans show her to be clear, so please keep praying this side effect of radiation goes away ASAP!

Rylee Beard (5, Will's tumors in bladder/abdomen) - finished inpatient chemo round early Monday morning - hopefully they are home! Possibly will have outpatient chemo later in the week.

Holden Underwood (1, ALL/MLL) - had a fever over the weekend, they spent another Friday in the ER. Looks like it was a mild ear infection, which they got antibiotics for. Pray he gets clear and stays clear of any and all germs!!

Brennan Scurlock (1, neuroblastoma) his counts were high enough over the weekend to do a stem cell harvest. What a miracle this kid is because he did it in 3 hours when it takes kids normally 3 days!! Praise The Lord!

Courtney Pette (16, lymphoma) - continuing with outpatient chemo. I found out one of her really good friends is one of Natalie's swim team coaches! Praise God she has such great support around her!

Ruel Bobet (20, stomach cancer) - starting to have more side effects from the chemo, including losing taste and smell. Pray he will continue to have an appetite!

Addison Marshall (17, ALL)- his port was successfully removed last week! He also has started radiation at the Proton Center. He is struggling with the mask, so pray The Lord's peace will overtake him during the treatment and the side effects he has had thus far will disappear in the wake of that peace that transcends all understanding!

Hudson Kadlecek (4, lymphoma)

Patton Jones (3, Burkitt's Lymphoma)

Wyatt (2, ALL)
