TPT4KC This Week!

Sometimes we all need a reminder - maybe it's a reminder of how good we have it.  Maybe it is a reminder that it could be worse.  Maybe it is a reminder that you aren't alone.  Or just maybe you need to be reminded that this life isn't all there is - there is a possibility for better.

It's hard to know exactly what kind of reminder we will need on any given day, but I find The Lord certainly has a way of providing them.  Being open to these opportunities to give thanks, or to use them as a spring board to reach out is our challenge.  These reminders can give you warm fuzzies and they can also lead to action.  It just depends on being open to what The Lord wants from you.  Sometimes, He doesn't require anything - He just uses these reminders to show us how much He loves us.  Other times, we are called to definite movement off the place we are standing.

I got a reminder today in a Bible verse and yesterday at lunch with a friend, of what it means to be a part of this community of pediatric cancer.  In a way, they were the same reminder - a little shot in the arm to not let myself get discouraged because my daughter survived while others have not.  A little perspective that Sophia's healing was a blessing and my response to that blessing determines how far it will go beyond us.  The more I focus on "survivor's guilt" (which I have a significant amount of), the shorter distance the blessing of her healing will travel.  But the more I focus on bringing awareness to the situations and get more people involved in this ministry - the greater impact our blessing will have.

I'm only human, I get worn down.  I get sad.  I get distracted (that happens most often).  But The Lord is faithful to keep me focused on eternity rather than present reality.  It is a gift to be able to pray for these kids and it is my duty to keep on going.  It is turning away from the wrong of self-pity to the right of prayer.  It is enacting justice at the highest court in the land, pleading the cases of these children for mercy and absolution (Isaiah 1:16-17).

We have been given so much, and much is required.

I hope these children and their families are a reminder to you of something God has done or wants to do in your life.  I pray He uses them to show you the path to mercy, love and grace through their struggles.  He does use the weak to bring the strong to their knees - and I want us to definitely go to our knees for them.  What precious gifts they are!  So, let's pray for them because PRAYER WORKS!
