Back in the saddle again!
It's been a long, hot, busy summer, but with only 6 more sleeps till school starts, I'm trying to get back in the swing of things. I know this is true for a lot of families, some whose kids can go to school and some who can only send their older/not-in-treatment kids. We pulled Sophia from Pre-K when she was diagnosed and it was tough, although after she lost her hair, she was ok with it. Starting Kindergarten, she was so shy, so resevered.
What a difference a year makes!!!!!!!!!!! Sophia is Ms. Sassy Pants who regularly has run-ins with Mommy because she wants to do things her own way! I try to be patient, kind and gentle (and all those other fruits of the Spirit) but I must admit, I'm not very good at it yet. I hope to one day be, it that day will probably come when I am a grandma!!
I'm studying Colossians right now and as I went through Chapter 1, a prayer Paul documented for this church struck me as perfect for our prayers and for our hopes for our cancer families this week:
We have quite a few kids, who have completed treatment and are still in it, getting scans this week. There is nothing more daunting that facing the wait on results, no matter how long or short. So, keep this idea of building to great endurance and patience in mind as you lift up the results of each child's scan and what their families experience. I know prayers sustained me with a peace beyond all imagining last week after Sophia's scans last week. It is so possible and I pray to the God who makes everything possible - because....

It really hit me that this prayer is one for a building of faith. We must have knowledge, wisdom and understanding from the Holy Spirit - to please God. Then, when work on pleasing Him, we will bear fruit and grow more knowledgeable about Him. Following on that, He will strengthen us with all power, and through that power we will have great endurance and patience to maintain our faith - even in situations like what our families faith. Once we have endured, we can give thanks because then we will know the depth of His love and the riches of the inheritance He has given us. It is beautiful that the Lord so faithful knows what we need when we need it and provides for us each step of the way!We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.
