I don't have a lot of words this week. I think I wrote myself out yesterday and am in focus mode until the end of the day Friday. I also wish I had good news to report on everyone, but I don't. The sweet man we had on our list, who Sophia and I met in person when we delivered him and his Mom a comfort kit at MD Anderson last year, passed away on Saturday. I watched Steel Magnolias on Saturday night and a quote from that movie comes to mind as I think about all that was going on in and around Ruel Alexander Bobet at that very same time.
She (Shelby) just wanted to take care of that little baby and of you, of everybody she knew. And her poor little body was just worn out. It just wouldn’t let her do all the things she wanted to.
He was such a light to so many people, especially to his parents and brother. This is the hard part about ministry - not all of our prayers are going to be answered the way we would like. But we will keep praying. Ruel's body couldn't keep up but his spirit can. Now that that spirit is in the Hands of Almighty God, I know he will be able to do so much more. I don't know any details yet about a service for him if you are in Houston and want to go, but I will post it here if and when I get those. Please be lifting up his family, this is so incredibly hard - harder than many of us will ever know.
