TPT4KC - Wednesday Edition

I'm going to use the words of others today.  I apologize for being a day late with the updates, it has been pretty packed since Sophia's scans Friday and these are time-sensitive so I want to make sure I get the latest updates to you!  But for today, we will let wise others counsel us.  I hope these messages encourage you as much as they have me, along with the cumulative effect of our prayers for these sweet children.  God hears and He knows!!

In his book, The Problem with Pain, C.S. Lewis writes:

Pain is God's megaphone to rouse a deaf world.

God is using the pain we feel for these kids and through our own experiences to rouse us to pray.  To be changed, just as they are healed and be restored to the character of His Son, that character we lost when Eve and Adam took their first bite.  Be Roused!

Also, in his Morning and Evening devotional book, Charles Spurgeon writes this on reflection of Acts 14:22,

God's people have their trials. It was never designed by God, when he chose his people, that they should be an untried people. They were chosen in the furnace of affliction; they were never chosen to worldly peace and earthly joy. Freedom from sickness and the pains of mortality was never promised them...So surely as the stars are fashioned by his hands, and their orbits fixed by him, so surely are our trials allotted to us: he has ordained their season and their place, their intensity and the effect they shall have upon us...But although tribulation is thus the path of God's children, they have the comfort of knowing that their Master has traversed it before them; they have his presence and sympathy to cheer them, his grace to support them, and his example to teach them how to endure; and when they reach "the kingdom," it will more than make amends for the "much tribulation" through which they passed to enter it.

Thank God for sending His Son, to be "Immanuel" - the God with us through our trials!  We can rest in knowing He has gone before us, He is with us, He is comforting us and He is consistently giving us the grace to handle whatever comes.  And just think of all the blessings we will receive for staying faithful on the other side!  Pray these families feel His goodness all around them today.

Thomas Valerio (11, rhabdomyosarcoma in left hand) Waiting on results from MRI from yesterday and CT scan showed his chest was clear!  Please pray for the strength to finish strong as he has only 3 more treatments to go!!

Brennan Scurlock (1, neuroblastoma) – Scans this week and chemo next week.  Still dealing with a lot of unknowns as far as what type of cancer they are fighting, but they are fighting! Praise The Lord for the strength of his parents and please ask He would keep giving them reasons to move forward.  Please pray for wisdom and discernment from the various medical teams and that they will find the best protocol for him!  <"Brennan Scurlock" on FB>
