CONFIDENCE
Some days we have it, some days we don't. There is no better articulation of the feeling of confidence for the folks on this list as when you get a scan back and it is clear or unchanged. But when your child is sick, or even worse, one of your buddies from clinic is released from his fight to join Christ in Heaven - your confidence is all but destroyed. We have all sides of the spectrum on today's updates.
But the question remains - what can keep your confidence on a more even keel - even if there are still some emotional highs and lows? Faith is what does it. When we have faith in Christ to work all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose - those swings in our confidence are a little less severe. We can rest easier - even if we don't rest that much (especially in treatment).
Confidence is not always about healing or not healing. It isn't always about living, being well or being sick or even dying. Confidence goes hand in hand with hope. Hope is what enables us to get out of bed when we have to face another day at the clinic or in the hospital. Hope is what gives us the assurance that our prayers are heard and are being answered. Confidence in any situation is based on what we have put our hope in. If our hope is in ourselves, it is going to be shaky. Sometimes you might do well, others you might fall flat on your face.
But when our confidence is placed in The Lord God - El Shaddai - The Almighty - The Great I AM - we still might have those emotional swings, but our confidence in the goodness He gives to His Children can never be shaken. That is what I experienced going through our journey with Sophia. I might not have been happy all the time, but I was always confident that God was right by my side. He caught all my tears and will keep His promise to wipe them all away one day. He was a solid rock I could vent too and will keep His promise to take away all the pain that caused me so much anger. He was my shelter where I could find peace, even in the midst of my worst anxieties.
Confidence in God never left me because I kept my eyes open for His faithfulness. I humbled myself under His arm of grace. I expressed my disappointment, fear, anxiety, rage and frustration to His listening ears. Confidence comes from having a rock. And I do - The Rock of Ages.
Pray every family on this list experiences the kind of confidence that we know is possible in Christ - especially Aiden McSpadden's family as they move through their grief this week. So much more is possible than we can even imagine and I pray each and every man, woman and child connected to this list will feel it - tangibly this week. Pray for them to go to all their appointments and in every conversation full of the confidence that The Lord, Jesus Christ, is looking out for them and so they will have nothing to be concerned about.
And praise Him for it while you pray because PRAYER WORKS!
