Psalm 41:1-3, HCSB
Happy is one who cares for the poor; the Lord will save him in a day of adversity.
The Lord will keep him and preserve him; he will be blessed in the land.
You will not give him over to the desire of his enemies.
The Lord will sustain him on his sickbed;
You will heal him on the bed where he lies.
It's been a few weeks since I've posted the updates. It got really difficult to carry on after the 1-2-3 punch of losing Brennan, then Aidan, then Preston. Death is hard and it was meant to be. It is supposed to make us revere the life we have and do the best we can with it, no matter how long or short. It gives me great comfort to recognize Jesus as the Lord of Life and the Lord of Death. He has walked the path we walk when we pray for these kids. And He has walked those that we have lost to the other side, to be cared for by our Heavenly Father, not just as they fight cancer, but now in final victory over cancer and death itself. We can learn a lot of from the dignity that carried these children and their families through their battles. We can learn from those who have gone before to join the great cloud of witnesses to cheer us still fighting here on Earth. We can learn from those still fighting.
And we can remember to lift up, pray for and care for those families in treatment when our healing has been completed here on Earth.
It's taken me a few weeks to get this perspective back and I have a lot of good news to report this week. Lots of our kids have been scanned in the last 2 weeks or so and lots of great results! We face Sophia's scans on Friday and I'll write more about that later when things aren't as crazy here as they are right now with my Mom, nieces and neighbor over to play! Summer is a challenging but joyous time, so I'm trying to enjoy it rather than let myself get stressed about all the work that is backing up on me!

I'm focusing on verse 2 and 3 of Psalm 41 for my prayers this week - The Lord will NOT give these kids over to the desire of the enemy to make them sick with cancer. He WILL sustain them through treatment, in good health or bad; at home or in the hospital. He WILL heal them. Indeed, He is already doing that one way or the other.
So, let's pray because PRAYER WORKS!
